Hellion Turbo has always been known for pushing Ford performance platforms further, and FordMuscleโs exclusive feature on the worldโs most powerful Shelby GT350R is a perfect example.
The article follows Jim Guthrieโs Shelby GT350R, a car that had already proven itself with a Hellion twin-turbo system by laying down 723 horsepower and 654 lb-ft of torque on just 9 pounds of boost. That was only the beginning. With the goal of pushing beyond four-digit horsepower, Hellion upgraded the Voodoo-powered Shelby with the supporting components needed to handle more boost and even more power.
At the heart of the GT350R is Fordโs 5.2L Voodoo engine, known for its high-revving nature and exotic flat-plane crankshaft. As FordMuscle noted, Hellionโs turbo system is a natural fit for this platform because it does not place belt-driven load on the front of the crankshaft. That makes the twin-turbo approach especially appealing for an engine already known for unique balance characteristics and high-rpm performance.
To prepare the engine for more boost, Hellion upgraded the rotating assembly with custom Arias pistons and Carrillo rods while retaining the factory crankshaft and block. The engine also received upgraded valve springs, titanium retainers, stronger oil pump gears, a bottom chain sprocket upgrade, larger injectors, and a JMS fuel pump voltage booster to support the added power.

Once the built Voodoo combination was back together, Hellionโs twin-turbo system delivered exactly what the project set out to achieve: more than 1,000 horsepower and 1,000 lb-ft of torque at the rear wheels.
The build also highlights one of Hellionโs biggest strengths โ engineering turbo systems that deliver massive power without sacrificing clean fitment. The GT350R system was adapted from Hellionโs proven Mustang GT platform, retaining the factory exhaust connection and requiring no cutting. That means the car could be returned to stock if desired, an important detail for owners of rare, high-value Shelby models.

For GT350 and GT350R owners, the FordMuscle feature shows just how much potential the Voodoo platform has when paired with Hellion twin-turbo power. Whether the goal is a mild boost setup on a stock engine or a fully built four-digit-horsepower combination, Hellionโs approach delivers efficiency, adjustability, and the kind of torque the high-revving GT350 platform was never known for from the factory.

Ford may have built the GT350R as a naturally aspirated road-course weapon, but Hellion proved the Voodoo engine has another side entirely โ one capable of serious turbocharged horsepower.
