Hellion Turbo has never been one to wait for a platform to mature before pushing it forward. When the refreshed 2018 Mustang GT debuted with Ford’s new Gen 3 Coyote engine, Hellion was already developing twin-turbo power for the next era of Mustang performance.
FordMuscle highlighted that effort in its SEMA 2017 feature on Hellion’s twin-turbo 2018 Mustang GT, a Tucci Hot Rods-built project that made its public debut in the Ford Motor Company booth. The car served as an early test bed for Hellion’s first twin-turbo system designed around the updated 5.0L platform.
The 2018 Mustang GT brought several important changes, including the new dual-fuel Gen 3 Coyote engine. Rather than relying on a carryover system, Hellion used its experience from the 2015–2017 Mustang GT and 2016–2018 Shelby GT350 platforms to engineer a new Eliminator twin-turbo package specifically for the updated car.

As FordMuscle reported, the system was developed to install without cutting the body, giving Mustang owners a serious power-adder option while preserving the vehicle. The build also showed why Hellion has long believed in turbocharging as the ultimate performance solution: strong drivability during normal use, no constant belt-driven parasitic loss, and massive power when the turbos come alive.
The Tucci-built Mustang was designed for standing-mile performance and featured aerodynamic upgrades, racing seats, a roll cage, and custom 3D-printed details. With Hellion twin-turbo power under the hood and HP Tuners software supporting calibration of the new dual-fuel system, the car represented an early glimpse at what the 2018+ Mustang GT platform was capable of.
For Hellion, the project was more than a SEMA showpiece. It was a statement that the Gen 3 Coyote was ready for serious turbocharged performance from the very beginning. By applying lessons learned from previous Mustang systems, Hellion helped give 2018+ Mustang owners a clear path to big horsepower, clean fitment, and proven twin-turbo engineering.
FordMuscle’s feature captured an important moment in modern Mustang development: the first public look at Hellion twin-turbo power for the 2018 Mustang GT.
