Hellion Turbo has always been at the forefront of modern Mustang performance, and FordMuscle’s feature on the world’s first twin-turbo 2020 Shelby GT500 shows exactly why.
The article highlights a milestone build from HPJ Performance, which worked with Hellion to adapt twin-turbo power to the then-new 2020 GT500 platform. At the time, the factory-supercharged Shelby was already one of the most powerful production Mustangs ever built, but this project proved that Ford’s 5.2L Predator engine had even more potential waiting to be unlocked.
According to FordMuscle, the HPJ-built GT500 used a Hellion Sleeper-style turbo system, a massive 6-inch intercooler, Precision 64mm turbochargers, Turbosmart wastegates and blow-off valves, a Plazmaman intake manifold, and Lund Racing tuning. The result was an incredible 1,103.2 rear-wheel horsepower and 869.3 lb-ft of torque on the HPJ dyno — all with the stock long-block still in place.
That kind of result helped lay the groundwork for Hellion’s 2020+ Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 Street Sleeper® Hidden Twin Turbo System.
Today, Hellion’s GT500 Street Sleeper® system gives Shelby owners a true bolt-on path to massive twin-turbo performance. The system removes the factory supercharger and replaces it with Hellion 64/66R billet wheel ball-bearing turbos, 4-into-1 headers, a large 6-inch vertical-flow intercooler, American-made stainless-steel piping, twin Turbosmart Comp-Gate 40 wastegates, twin Turbosmart VEE Port bypass valves, heavy-duty silicone hoses, stainless T-bolt clamps, high-flow K&N filters, and Hellion’s proven turbo oiling system.

The Street Sleeper® layout was engineered to deliver huge horsepower while maintaining clean fitment and a subtle, hidden-turbo appearance. No factory sheet metal modification is required, and the system is designed to be daily driven in real-world conditions.
For GT500 owners who want to move beyond the limits of the factory supercharger, Hellion’s twin-turbo system offers the efficiency, adjustability, and power potential to take Ford’s ultimate modern Mustang even further. With 1,400+ horsepower capability, the GT500 Street Sleeper® system turns an already-elite Shelby into a true four-digit-horsepower contender.
